Privacy & data
Privacy, in plain English.
Syntax Ltd is responsible for the personal data this website collects: we are its controller. Here is what each part of the site receives, why, on what lawful basis, where it goes and how long it is kept, in plain English.
- Controller
- Syntax Ltd, a company registered in Jersey
- Privacy questions
- contact@synt.ax
- Updated

The system sketch
- What
- The sentence you submit. Please leave out personal, confidential or sensitive information.
- Why
- To draft the sketch you see on this page.
- Lawful basis
- Our legitimate interest in showing you the draft sketch you asked for.
- Where it goes
- Through our Cloudflare Worker to Anthropic’s Claude, which drafts the sketch. Anthropic processes the sentence under its API data policies. Pressing “Send this sketch to Syntax” only copies your brief and sketch into the form on this page; nothing is sent until you press send there.
- How long
- We do not store your sentence or include it in our logs. Validated sketch labels and character positions may be cached for up to 30 days under a hash of the request, and our logs hold a hash prefix, timing, token counts and the result status.
The contact and careers forms
- What
- Your name, email address, optional company and message. The careers form also tells us the role you picked.
- Why
- To reply to you, and to consider your application if you are applying to join us.
- Lawful basis
- Taking the steps you ask for before a possible contract with us, such as a project or a job, and our legitimate interest in replying to you.
- Where it goes
- Our Cloudflare Worker passes it to Cloudflare’s email service, which delivers it to our mailbox at contact@synt.ax. The website sends nothing to your address; we reply from our mailbox.
- How long
- The website keeps no copy, and its logs hold only a random reference, the form used, the result and the timing, never your details or message. We keep your message in our mailbox only as long as we need it to handle your enquiry or application and follow up.
Email from your own mail app
- Lawful basis
- As for the forms: taking the steps you ask for, and our legitimate interest in replying to you.
- Where it goes
- Your email provider and ours carry it as usual, and we use it to reply to you.
- How long
- As for the forms: only as long as we need it to handle your message and follow up.
Every visit
- What
- The details every web request carries, such as your network (IP) address, your browser and the page you asked for. Page views and load times, counted in aggregate.
- Why
- To deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and see which pages are read and how quickly they load.
- Lawful basis
- Our legitimate interests in delivering a secure website and in understanding, in aggregate, how it is used.
- Where it goes
- Cloudflare hosts this website and processes requests to deliver and protect it, including counting requests per network address for a minute to limit abuse. Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us aggregate page statistics: it uses no cookies or browser storage, does not fingerprint you and does not track you across other sites.
- How long
- Rate-limit counts last a minute. Cloudflare keeps technical logs of requests to our sketch and form service for three days. We see analytics only as totals, never as a record of you.
Your device
- Cookies
- None. This website sets no cookies, so there is nothing to accept or decline. If Cloudflare ever has to check that a visitor is not an automated attack, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie; it is never used for tracking.
- Stored locally
- A few display settings, such as whether you turned motion off and whether the opening animation has already played. They stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
- From the home page
- A sentence you type there is held in that browser tab only until this page picks it up and sketches it, as in 01.
Who handles it for us
- CloudflareHosting, security and rate limits, form email delivery and Web Analytics.
- AnthropicDrafts the system sketch from your sentence.
- ZohoHosts our mailbox, contact@synt.ax.
